I'm so excited and I just can't hide it.... know the rest. I know it is super late. Or early depending on how you look at it, but I just had to post this. I couldn't call anyone and tell them why I am so excited. I was lucky enough to get not 1 but 2 very high dollar coupons for a clothing store. Happy dance!! I am not going to keep both though I would like to. :) I am going to give the other to a friend. I can always try to get more next week. It was definitely worth losing sleep. That's why there is coffee!!

Coupon Roundup

Here are a few coupons that I printed out recently. Couldn't pass up the deals.

$1.50 off 2 Velveeta shells and cheese

several Kellogg's Cereal coupons

more Kellogg's cereal coupons here

If you click the back button on your browser, you should be able to get two sets of all of these. If you have more than one computer, you can get even more!!

Shopping Trip

I am trying to start a new budget for the month of May. I really need to hunker down and watch my spending. So do you D!!! :) I am allowing $60 per week for food. This may sound like a lot to some, but we eat. A lot. We also drink a lot of milk. I decided to go ahead and do a bulk of my shopping today. I purchased all nonperishable goods (pantry and freezer items). I know that I will have to make quick trips for milk and produce. No biggie. I wanted to take a picture of my goods, but I was in a hurry and forgot. :(
Here is a rundown of my day:
2-soy sauce
2-baked beans
1-bbq sauce
1-lasagna noodles
4-Velveeta shells and cheese
2-Kraft Mac and Cheese crackers
1-Cheese Nips
1-bacon bits
3 lbs onions
2- Speedstick deoderant
2- $1.50 MQ off 2 Velveeta shells and cheese
$.75 off 2 Speed Stick deodorant
$1.00 off 2 Kraft Mac and Cheese crackers
Total: $25.05
I will have to go back to Walmart though. The deodorant did not ring up at $1.00 like is advertised. I didn't realize it until just now. :( Oh well. It happens.

8-can diced tomatoes
4- cans tomato paste
3-gallons skim milk
1- gallon whole milk
1- package tilapia
2- cans of corn
5 lbs ground turkey
1- package chicken breasts
2- packages of margarine sticks
1- package brats
2- packages hot dogs
1- package pork chops
2- cans parmesan cheese
vegetable oil
garlic powder
onion powder
2- jars salsa
1- lb sausage
2- cans tuna
3- cans black beans
2- boxes spaghetti
4- packages tortillas
2- packages cheese slices
ham cubes
12- bricks of cheddar and mozzarella
3 lbs apples
sour cream
2- packages rice
2- packets gravy mix
3lbs bananas
4- boxes cereal
3 dozen eggs
1 bag pretzels
2 bags tortilla chips
6 loaves bread
1 can chili
Total: 127.40

Total for the day: $152.45
$87.55 left for the rest of the month

It doesn't sound like a lot of food, but trust me. It is. Hehehehe. Filled my pantry and my freezer. My hubby is going to be shocked.

Another new phone.

I present to you my new baby:

I'm in love. I recently purchased the LG Vu. I liked it at first. I thought. After the 30 day trial period, I realized that I wasn't so in love with it. We were getting ready to add another line to our account. I decided to get the phone I wanted in the first place but didn't. It's a little girly, but it's not pink so that's good. I LOVE it. It has the same interface as my long lost Pantech Duo. I have had great experience with Samsung phones in the past. The sound quality has always been great for me. The batteries have all held up very well. I am very pleased with my new phone. :)

Don't drink the water. Whatever you do!

There is something in it! If you drink it, you will start harboring life forms in your uterus. :) NO. I'm not preggars. Everyone else I know is though! First up is my little bro L and his wife A. They are due in August. I can't wait! L is going to be a great dad. I am so happy for them.

My coworker D is preggars. She is due in October. She suffered a miscarriage a couple of years ago. It was heartbreaking. Everything seems to be going very well this time. She is such a sweet girl and is going to be a great mommy. Another friend is expecting her first child in October also.
All of these hormones have gotten to my head. I find myself thinking that one more baby might be nice. Ugh. Did I just say that!? Do I have baby fever? Eek. Maybe not full on baby fever but a slight touch of it. I'm sure it will pass soon though. LOL. Don't tell my hubby. Don't want him freaking out!

My mp3 player

I really don't have an mp3 player. BUT, if I did, these songs would be on it! These are songs that I keep playing on my computer. I love them. Crash likes them too. LOL.

Ben Lee- Catch My Disease
I heard this song on an episode of Scrubs. I belief Zach Braff helps with the music selections because many of the songs lately on Scrubs are similar to the music in Garden State and The Last Kiss. It's cute and catchy. The video is a little kooky. I didn't see it until I was preparing this blog.

Gavin Rossdale- Love Remains the Same
Need I say much more. HELLO!!! It's Gavin. You know! That guy from Bush. Mmmmm. I still have a crush on him after all these years. I love his voice. He's not too bad to look at either!!

Our Lady of Peace- Innocent
This was also from an episode of Scrubs. I really enjoy this group. They have a couple of other songs I like. I just can't recall what they are at this time.

Death Cab for Cutie- I Will Follow You into the Dark
I also heard this song on an episode of Scrubs and fell in love with it.

Joshua Radin- I'd Rather be With You
Scrubs. He has some other songs I love also. I will probably post those at another date.

Young Love- Close Your Eyes
Scrubs. Again.

I have really noticed my taste in music change over the last couple of years. I used to listen to a lot of rap and hip hop. I hardly listen to any now. I still like rock and punk rock. I have found myself really paying attention to what I have on in the car. I don't want my children listening to music that degrades people and condones drug use. Sorry. Just not for me. My hubby calls me an old lady because of my new taste in music and the fact that I LOVE listening to talk radio. LOL. Oh well.

Sweet. I got an award!!!

I would like to thank all of the little people I had to step on to get here. :) JUST KIDDING!! I am super excited to get an award though. I typically don't have anything to blog about, so this is fun. It was given to me by My Husband's Watching TV and I think The Boyd Team. I love both of these blogs. These are some great girls. Seriously.

Here are the rules:
1. Put the logo in your blog
2. Write five things you are passionate about apart from blogging.
3. Tag 5 people on your lists and let them know you tagged them.

1. My husband
He is my best friend. Truly. We rely on each other for so many things. He is a rock for me. He is a steady place I know I can trust. I know that he loves me unconditionally and that he would do anything for me. He is my complete opposite, but we work. I don't even really know why, but I don't like to question it.
2. My children
I have always wanted kids. I feel I am so blessed to have three happy, healthy children. They are so smart and so full of energy. I can't stand not having them around me. It is definitely difficult to bring up a family these days, but I believe I am doing a good job. Of course, we won't know until they are adults. I will keep my fingers crossed.
3. Cooking
I love to cook. Seeing people watch my food brings me so much joy. I love coming up with new twists on old favorites. I love the process of actually chopping and dicing. I love all of it.
4. Couponing
This is a new found love for me. I used to make fun of these people. Then I realized I could get items I actually need for little or no money. Um Hello! It's a game for me to see how much I can save on toothpaste or deodorant. If I have to pay full price for something, I get sick to my stomach. LOL. If I pay over $.50 for some items I don't even consider that a good deal anymore. Hehehehe. This has helped us out financially. I don't know if we would be able to make it if I didn't do this.
5. My work
I know it sounds odd, but I do love my job. I am a preschool teacher. I teach 3 year olds. I love what I am able to do for these kids. I am making an impact on the future. I know some people don't consider me a real teacher. That's fine. I know what I do. I see the things these children learn from me. They learn things their parents aren't able to teach them because they have to work to provide for them. I'm like a substitute parent. These are basic developmental skills that every child needs to be successful. I smile knowing I am a little part of that.

I don't really know who to tag. I think everyone that reads my blog has already been tagged. :)

The child formerly known as Little D.

We are changing his blog name. My hubby and I have decided that his new blog name will be Crash. He's like a bull in a china shop. LOL. He literally runs into EVERYTHING. He doesn't come with brakes.
So, a recap of my stinkers:

Yes. My boys are hamming it up for the camera. I love them all so much. I am a lucky momma.

Things I didn't know about myself. Warning: slightly politcal blog follows. Turn back now if you want!

According to a new report, I am a racist. I am a radical. I am an extremist. I might even be a terrorist. I know. I was shocked too. I have never before posted my political views on my blog. Politics can be a very sensitive subject and a lot of people can become enraged. I believe people are entitled to believe whatever they want. I will not question someone's believes or try to persuade them to believe otherwise. I would never tell someone that I cannot associate with them because of their political views. I accept you for who you are regardless of height, weight, color, sex, political view.
I have chosen now to say something because the most resent ramblings have me very upset along with millions of other people. Yes, I would say that politically, I lean more to the right. Eek. My dirty little secret. Now that that is out in the open let me get to the most important matter at hand.
I am not a racist. No. I did not vote for Obama. I did not base that decision on his skin color. In fact, I told my husband that I do believe the United States is ready for an African American president. I would NEVER judge a person's ability on the color of their skin. My disgust with the excessive debt the U.S. is building up does not fall on Obama's shoulders alone. When Bush was bailing out banks, I was very angry also. I do not harber some sort of resentment for Obama. I do NOT want him to fail. If he is able to turn this economy around, GREAT!
I am not a radical. I am not an extremist. I do not run around breaking laws and brandishing my gun. I do not threaten anyone. I simply believe what I choose. Being singled out by the governement because I disagree with this president and the prior president doesn't make me an awful person. I am not a right wing nut job. I feel BOTH sides are to blame for this mess and the direction it appears to be going. I have a right to voice my concern within reason.
Oh, and I believe in God. Yep. This probably makes me a loon too. That will be for another post. LOL.
Sorry for boring you with my little rant. If you don't ever read my blog again because of this, well, it was nice knowing ya. If you continue to read it inspite of my believes, thank you for not judging me or dispising me. I think we can all live in harmony. I believe it was Rodney King that said,"Why can't we all just get along?" LOL. Not the greatest American to quote, but fitting enough. I think we can get along. :)

Pasta a la Cecilia

I didn't have as much red sauce as I thought and since I make my own, I had NO time to make another batch for dinner. I decided to whip up a batch of Alfredo sauce and mix the two together. I know there is a name for this but I have no idea what that name is and I'm too lazy to look right now. LOL. My photos are horrible and I apologize. I really want to learn how to take good pics. I will start practicing. Swear.

1 jar of your favorite red pasta sauce
1 pound ground meat (I used turkey)
1 box of pasta (any shape, I still have a ton left from what A gave me)
2 tablespoons butter/margarine
2 tablespoons flour
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, diced
1 to 2 cups milk (for a richer sauce use cream or half/half)
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
salt to taste
pepper to taste

1. Put garlic and onion in a skillet over medium heat. Cook until onions become translucent. Also at this time, start your water for the pasta.
2. Add ground meat to pan. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until done. Add red sauce to skillet. Reduce to very low heat.
3. Place butter in a sauce pan over medium heat. Allow to melt.
4. Add flour. Stir. Allow to cook for a couple of minutes.
5. Whisk in 1 cup of milk. Bring to a slight boil and reduce heat.
6. Add Parmesan cheese. Check the consistency. If your sauce appears fairly thick, add more milk until desired consistency is reached.
7. Keep covered on a very low heat.
8. Cook pasta according to directions. Drain pasta.
9. Add pasta, red sauce and white sauce to pot and stir until well combined.
10. Top with a little mozzarella. Or a lot.

I served the pasta with some leftover biscuits I had. I add melted garlic butter to the tops and warmed them up in the oven. The kids LOVED this. The hubby loves all food, so he enjoyed it too. :)

I have high hopes for this blog. Truly. LOL. Let's see how long that will last. I am going to make a conscious effort to start posting my menus and recipes. I need to focus some energy some where. It can be a hobby I suppose.

My hubby is still smoke free and I am soooooo proud of him. I am sorry if bragging about him is getting old. I just NEVER thought he would quit. Tomorrow is going to be a true test. We are going to a bar for a get together. He's afraid it's going to be difficult, which I definitely understand. He did say that his voice sounds better when he sings. I can't verify. He won't sing for me. :(

D is also doing something else I have been bugging him about forever. He is going to do a sleep study for his apnea. He stops breathing pretty frequently while sleeping. He wakes up with spots around his eyes where blood vessels have burst. This happens every day. It's really starting to scare him. I am so happy he is being proactive about his health.

Little D busted his face. He fell yesterday on the ceramic tile. He hit his cheekbone. Last night, he had a bump and a pretty good bruise where he hit. This morning, he woke up with a black eye. :( Poor guy. Oh happens.

I'm getting my hours back at work!! I am so excited and relieved. I was losing $200 a month. Maybe we will be able to get bills paid off now!! I hate being in debt. HATE IT!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Help please.

I will be attending a wedding next month. It is in the evening. I think I know what I want to wear, but I have a couple of questions.
1.) Is it acceptable to wear a black dress to a wedding at this time?
2.) I want a new pair of shoes. I don't want black or silver. It is ok to wear a "different" color shoe with a black dress to a wedding???

Thank you to any one who offers some help!!! I'm a little challenged in the fashion department.

My hubby's progress

Well, it has been 6 days since D stopped smoking. He had a little slip up on Monday. He found a third of a cigarette and decided to smoke it. I was very angry with him, but I was also happy that he was able to tell me. He chose to get an amplifier. He is sooooooo in love. LOL. He also knows that if he even takes one drag off a cigarette I will have the amp back up on Craig's List. The first three days were pretty rough. He complained. A LOT. I just kept telling him how proud I am and how proud the kids are. And that I love him for doing this. I know that it is hard, but he can do it.
The guys at work are trying to bring him over to the dark side, but he has resisted. He is realizing the nasty stench associated with smoking. He had a vest and jacket in his car that haven't been cleaned in a while. He put them on the other night because it was freezing. He said he couldn't stand the smell. I like that I can go to bed on the weekends and his clothes and hands are stinky.
I know I said it before, but I am so proud of him. I never thought he would EVER try to quit. Seeing his determination to do this lets me know that he really does listen to me. Occasionally. Lol.

Is it ever going to end?

I suppose this question could apply to many situations. Let me see what I can come up with....

1. My allergies/cold: I'm not sure which it is. I don't know how to tell the difference. The sinus drainage is so bad that I choke. I prop myself up with four pillows and take any medicine under the sun. Benadryl doesn't even do the trick. I don't really want to go to the doc because of a runny nose and coughing. Plus, taking Little D to the doc isn't as much fun as it sounds. I know. Poor me! LOL.

2. Crimes against children: In my opinion, a person who commits a violent crime against a child has NO place in our civilization. I know some people say, " You can't solve violence with violence." If you are spineless and coward enough to hurt a defenseless child, you deserve what you get. Haleigh Cummings. Caylee Anthony. Sandra Cantu. Samantha Runyan. Polly Klaas. Shawn Hornbeck. Ben Ownby. Arlin Henderson. JonBenet Ramsey. These are just a few off the top of my head.

3. Drunk drivers: I cannot for the life of me understand why people feel the need to drive under the influence. If you are impaired, you should NOT be behind the wheel. There is always another option. Choosing to drive drunk, is choosing murder.

4. The rain: Every day that I wanted to get started on gardening, IT RAINS!!!! Oh my goodness!! I am afraid that by the time the rain breaks for long enough, it will be too late. I want a garden. I'm not really sure how to garden, but I think I can figure it out. I love fresh tomatoes. I want fresh onions and herbs. I even want to try canning. I hope it isn't too difficult.

5: Many Americans' idea of entitlement: An awful thing is happening in our country. Every day, more and more people feel they should be getting something for nothing. They believe that they deserve to have the finest things and do not have to work for them. How did this happen? When did we become so worried about what we have and how much we have? When did we become so greedy? I am definitely going to have a seperate blog covering this topic.

Well, that is enough doom and gloom for one day. Just a few things that were bothering me at the moment.

Random stuff early in the morning.

Well, I'm up at 1 in the morning. Again. Bummer. I have yet to find a medicine to stop my sinus drainage. I had the toughest time falling asleep tonite. I finally fell asleep and woke up an hour later choking. I just popped some Benadryl. Hopefully that will at least knock me out for a couple of hours. Oh well.
I haven't shared any pics in a while. I need to get off my lazy arse and get my camera, but I won't. Hehehe. I found this pic.

This is what happens when 16 month olds find the foil. I should have known better than to go the bathroom!! Silly me. LOL. He unrolled about 1/3 of it. As I'm trying to salvage it, he grabs on to the end and is essentially hanging there. I didn't know that foil was so tough. I'm sure he would have dropped like a rock had there been a tear in it.
My hubby went over to visit his neighbor buddy and "have a beer" (a beer usually means more than 5, LOL). The kids were very helpful tonite so I decided to reward them with ice cream. This is the conversation that starts.....
Grace: Where's D?
Me: He's over having a beer with T.
Grace: How long does it take to drink A beer?
Me: (laughing) Well, it's probably more than just A beer.
Tater: Yeah, they are going to drink 10,000 beers and be drunk in the morning.
LMAO. There really isn't anything like quality time with the kiddos. For the record, D had 1 and a half. He started wanting a smoke so he decided it was time to quit drinking. Good job, Babe!!! I know it has been rough, but I am so proud of you for making it two days. It's not much, but it is a start.
I think the Benadryl is starting to work. I'm yawning a little. Guess, I should try to squeeze in a nap before jumping back into the grind.

Saturday, April 4, 2009

My husband is quitting smoking!!! I'm so proud and happy. I don't want to say that I have been bugging him to quit. I haven't been. I did let him know that I am worried about his health and that I want to keep him around for a little while. I, of course, turned on the tears. I swear I am such a sissy. (Actually, I'm a Scorpio. We are VERY passionate. We have a lot of emotion.) When D found out that the price of his smokes was going to nearly double, he was even more motivated to quit.
D told me he thought he deserved a prize if he quit. LOL. I asked him what he wants. He can't decide between a laptop and a new amplifier for his guitar. I figure we will easily save money for that since he won't be spending it on smokes. I think it is fair enough. His buddies at work are teasing him. "What if you have one after you quit?" D said he wouldn't. He knows I will take it away before he has a chance to say sorry. I'm a mean old lady.
Good luck, honey! I am so proud of you for quitting. I understand it's going to be challenging, but I am here for you. The kids are so proud you are quitting also! Think of the great example you are setting for them by doing this! I love you, D!!

I have a couple of other receipts missing because I also bought Skintimate shave gel. I ended up with 10 bodywashes total. I will update this post when I find them. I did NOT make all of these trips in one day!! LOL. And I did NOT hit the same store repeatedly. I didn't want anyone to give me a hard time about the Softsoap Bodywash. If you fly under the radar, they usually will leave you alone. If your store will let you do multiple transactions, you should. It is sooooo much easier, but I'm a huge chicken!!! LOL.

I know. I don't like saying it either, so juvenile. But that is what I feel like!! I was a giggly little school girl on Sunday! I was able to score a TON of stuff for next to nothing!!
I knew I wanted to get a couple of newspapers because there were some awesome coupons that I wanted. I was flipping through the inserts and came across a coupon for $1.50 off Kraft salad dressing (16oz and larger). "Hold up a sec!!" I had just visited Wally World and remembered a display that said $1.58 for Kraft Dressing. No way! I went back to the store armed with my coupons. Sure enough. They were marked down. Here is my receipt from this trip:

8- Kraft Salad Dressings $1.58-$1.50 MQ= $.08 each
1- Glade Sense and Spray refill $3.42-$3.82 MQ(It was a free coupon I got for reviewing the product. I read on The Boyd Team's blog about that! I didn't realize the cashier took off the wrong amount until today. Ooops!)
1- sippy cup $1.27
Total OOP with tax= $1.85
We eat a ton of salad in my house so this was well worth it for me. You can't get salad dressing at Aldi for $.08.
